SwordFish
Opening statement
The swordfish family is related to the billfish family and lives in the pacific and Atlantic ocean.
One
There are 12 species of billfish that are subdivided into two separate families. 11 species including marlins starfishes and sail fishes belong to the family while the family contains one family that swordfish gladius.
Two
The commonly reach 3 metres 9.8ft in length and the maximum reported is 4.55m in length and 650kg 1.430lb in weight.
Three
The swordfish is named after its bill resembling a sword this makes it superficially similar to other billfish.
Four
Contrary to popular belief the sword is not used to spare but instead may be used to slash its prey.
General statement
They are the sole of their family swordfish were harvest by a variety of methods at a small scale.
